Modus Operandi

No pledge is too big or small. Every cent goes a long way.

HOW WE WORK

We help communities-in-need by dealing with root causes of socio-cultural problems. The multi-faceted Community Empowerment and Crisis Relief Program (CECRP) provides these communities with viable and sustainable alternatives, thus empowering them to break away from cycles of poverty and violence. The main components of the CECRP are Empowerment and Relief.

OUR MODEL

MICRO BUSINESS – (INTERNET STATION, LAUNDRY SERVICE, MUSHROOM FARM, INTEGRATED FARM)

Micro-businesses aid victims of domestic violence by providing jobs, work-skills training and rehabilitation in a safe environment. This model creates opportunities for victims to attain financial independence and fit into society. The businesses also help to sustain operational costs. Every donor’s dollar is not only invested into a mere one-time effort but aims at a long-term goal of sustaining lives through fundamentally-sound business/micro-enterprise operations.

  • Life skill training & work opportunities: RADION provides training and employment in management, accounting and computer skills to survivors of domestic abuse & villagers in poverty. RADION staff is also trained to provide basic counseling and medical assistance to those in need.
  • Self-sustaining business model: Through micro-businesses such as an internet café & laundry service – this integrated community empowerment centre generates income independently to help cover other cost incurrence for providing better infrastructure and networks.
  • Developing social entrepreneurs: RADION provides opportunities for its staff to develop other creative micro-enterprises in which they can have co-ownership. Each enterprise creates 1–2 more jobs. One such enterprise born out of this program is the Mushroom Farm; the income from this project now provides more women who come from domestic abused background with employment opportunities and experience to gain financial independence.

CHILDREN REHABILITATION PROGRAM – (StreetKIDS! PROGRAMME)

Intervention and rehabilitation for children age between 6 to 16 with a background of poverty, substance abuse, gangs, physical abuse and neglect.

  • Safe environment & education: RADION provides child victims of abuse and neglect with a safe environment to nurture. This program includes providing basic necessities such as food, clothing, shelter and education.
  • Structure & rehabilitation for children-at-risk: RADION provides rehabilitation and socio-behavioral training to children who use drugs (i.e. glue sniffing, smoking) and/or have behavioral problems (gang involvement, stealing, violence) to prepare them for reintegration into society.
  • Work opportunities for victims of domestic violence: RADION employs victims of domestic violence as live-in staff to provide day-to-day care for these children.

HUMANITARIAN CRISES RELIEF

Bringing humanitarian aid to refugees and impoverished villagers – immediate response to disasters and crises impacting the marginalised communities.

  • Humanitarian assistance for refugees: Medical relief, foods supply augmentation, and early childhood development programs for refugees who are underserved by other NGOs.
  • Village outreach: Food and medical care to destitute Hmong-Thai villagers
  • Rapid response for disasters/crises: Enabling victims of domestic violence to partner with local leaders in coordinating disaster relief missions.
  • International partnerships & mass awareness: Bringing international volunteers and partnering with corporate sponsors to acquire and deliver relief and medical aid. Volunteers provide manpower and expertise while spreading awareness of communities in need.
